I grew up in Oklahoma, studied music history in Missouri, and pursued a poetry MFA in Indiana.
The midwest gave me room to explore and connect ideas through music and writing - and instilled in me the drive to chart a new trail.
Studying piano and cello gave me confidence, displine, and appreciation for craft. At Purdue, I discovered a new challenge - to help others discover poetry in new ways. After participating in a startup accelerator in Boston in 2017, I realized that I wanted to develop technology solutions to problems and issues I care about.
In August 2019, I moved to Seattle, where I discovered Ada Developers Academy, a full stack web development program for women and non-binary folks. After completing a software engineering internship at Lyft, I joined the team full-time and have continued to learn so much about topics like authentication, account security, and productionizing machine learning algorithms.
